Blackmores REME-D Migraine Headache 60
Assists with the management of migraine-headache
Blackmores REME-D for Migraine-Headache contains a specially chosen combination of feverfew and B vitamins (B2, B6, B9, B12) which may help reduce the frequency of migraine headaches and associated symptoms such as nausea and vomiting when taken regularly.
Feverfew has been used since the 17th century for the treatment of headaches, however it wasn’t until the 1980s that feverfew became the subject of clinical studies.
In 1978 an article was published in a journal about a woman who reportedly ate 3 feverfew leaves every day; she had suffered from migraines for over 50 years and after 10 months of feverfew use, reported that her migraines had ceased. This case report prompted research into the mode of action and potential applications for feverfew in migraine relief.
When taken regularly, feverfew may assist with the management of migraine and it may help reduce the frequency of migraine headache attacks and associated nausea and vomiting.
The B group vitamins help support a healthy nervous system.
Migraine in women
Women in their reproductive years are three times more likely than males to experience migraine and for many women, migraine headaches correspond with the menstrual cycle.
Menstrual migraines occur just prior to, or within the first 3 days of onset of menstruation and are believed to possibly be triggered by a fall in oestrogen. Women on the oral contraceptive pill may find their migraines are triggered during the pill-free period (when the body’s oestrogen levels drop).
The mechanisms by which oestrogen and progesterone affect migraine, and why some women are affected but not others, are not known. The combined effect of low oestrogen and progesterone may explain the occurrence of migraine headaches during the first few days of menstruation. Prostaglandins released during menstruation may also trigger or worsen migraine headaches and symptoms such as pain, nausea and vomiting.
